Final Submission

Along the way many revisions were made in between filming. Overall there wasn't any more necessary editing needed for my film but if circumstances were different with COVID-19 i would add some changes. I edited my film on an app, if we were still in school i would have tried editing in adobe because it is more accessible. I wanted to edit the music because it was from the app and wasn't the best. However this is my film, Trapped.

CCR Question #4

In my film I used my phone to edit. On an app called "Splice" i had easy access to crop shots and add in sound effects. One of the sound effects i used was a car driving by, it wasn't a big thing in the film but, a small sound effect to sound realistic. These factors contributed to making my film. I also used different font for the title and actors names. The font i used for the title fit the theme of the film. We used Hope's Iphone 7 to film the scenes and we edited the camera setting like the exposure and AE/AF Lock to keep the film more professional looking. Then she airdropped them to edit the film on my phone. Hope and I decided to not use any filters because it would keep the film real looking. We worked together to use as many technology resources.

CCR Question #3

My production skills have improved in different areas. One of those being editing. I used to edit videos but, in making this film i learned different tips and new ways to edit. I've learned about the different angles and shots when filming and how my audience views it. Since the beginning i learned how to use vocabulary that fits in filming as well. I've also learned a lot about film distribution, both physically and digitally. In general since the beginning I've learned new skills in writing, filming, and understanding the film itself which is really important.

CCR Question #2 Draft

In my audience engagement i learned how to draw the right audience to a film. Each film has its own audience engagement and based on that you make the film. My marketing plan includes sharing my film through social media, through apps such as snapchat, instagram and facebook. This plan will easily draw my target audience which is really everyone. These platforms are already used daily by adults and teens. In my distribution research i learned about many ways to distribute my product. One smart way is in musicals, you can draw your audience by creating a hit song that connects to the film. By taking advantage of digital platforms i could have my film be on netflix, itunes or even youtube.

CCR Question #1 Draft

In my product my main convention would be my social group. In my film the social group represented is more lower class, in the film the actor suffers from family issues. On top of that i like my title as one of the conventions. The title gives the film idea away but its still subtle and on topic. I used a lot of camera convention such as over- the shoulder shots and short takes that i put together to guide the film. Another convention i used was music. The music i used tied into the genre and mood of the film. This movie relates to people around the world because some people live like this and its hard. The social group represented is divorced families and the struggles they face.

3rd Quarter Submission

This is our new revised film. In this remake we had about three revisions. Our first revision was the music in the drone shot and adding the credits to the in the same shot. So, we redid the music in this
shot because the music we had before did not match the theme and feel of the film, instead we added a less upbeat song to a low beat song.

3rd Revision

For our third revision we added a new scene. After Mia (Hope) is done writing in her journal about how she hates her life is the new scene. In this scene we printed out a picture of Mia's parents. She pulls the picture out from her table and rips it up and the screen fades to black. We did this because it gives a cool dramatic ending with the cut to black, also it looks professional which also adds to the feel of the film.

2nd Revision

For our second revision we added a shot and re-did the shot of Mia (Hope) walking into her room after she came home from school. We added an insert shot of Mia leaning on her door to add the dramatic effect of what Mia was going through and how stressed she felt. Right after Mia opens her door to walk into her room this shot is added and cuts back to when she sets her things on the bed.

1st revision

For our first revision we re-shot the scene of Mia (Hope) writing in her journal. We re-did this shot because the shot before was very plain. With the redo we added a small pan camera from the notebook back up to an over shoulder shot. With this the shot looks less messy and cleaner.

Distribution Plan

For my film i plan to distribute in different forms that i researched. The films i researched are larger films and have more popularity. I can utilize using phrases or quotes that relate to my movie and give hints to what it's about. A phrase i made was "hiding on the inside". This gives of the idea my film will be about a person who may seriously be hiding on the inside from the outside world, because if personal problems. Another one of the films i researched launched it's film at a film festival, that is a good idea but i could launch my film through social media platforms. Instagram and Facebook have lots of users and i could launch advertisements for my film to get the word out to the public. Lastly i could commercially advertise it on websites. All these different ways of distribution will help set my film.

Distribution Research- Me Without You

This is a film about two best friends Marina and Holly as their friendship becomes toxic when they grow up. This relates to my film because just as in this film both relationships in the film are toxic and not healthy. This film was commercially released in 2001. This was a British film so it was more popular in the UK. The film covers the times of 1973 to 2001. This film probably has a more adult audience than children audience. I can use the tactics of distribution used in this in my film by setting up a commercial for my film either online or social media platforms.

Distribution Research- Minding the Gap

A film about two friends that bond through skateboarding to escape their lives at home. This film was released on Hulu as a documentary and theatrically on August 17. Hulu used a film festival as a way to distribute their product. At the Sundance Film Festival the film won the "U.S Documentary Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Filmmaking". I can incorporate this distribution method for my product by setting my film on public based sites or sites for films and grow my audience.

Distribution Research - A Star is Born

A Star is Born made over 350 million dollars globally. One of the many ways to distribute films is to go internationally. By doing this you are expanding your audience greatly and pulling money from not only all of United States, but Europe and other countries. Also with the film many songs were created but, one that got very popular was "Shallow". With this song already distributed into the public through media forms such as Spotify and Apple Music this film gets popular easily. I would include this method to post it up on you tube as a way to get my film out to the public and the world in general.

distribution research

The traditional way for film distribution is to represent each film individually and create packages to sell for the film. You have to have a lot of resources for the marketing and promoting expenses. Traditional distribution costs a lot of money, sometimes you aren't able to have limited releases to a movie theater. Its very important that you have a good agent that knows what they are doing for your film so you not only get the most of the money you are paying for an agent, but your movie. Everyone wants the most successful film and get the most money from it. i would utilize these strategies to find the best way to get my film out to the public. I would use my marketing plan and the ideas i created to market my product to distribute it to the public.

Marketing Plan

Based on my past research on marketing and advertising, there are a couple of ways to do this. I think the main way to market products would be social media. Social media is a very easy way to get your product out to the audience. Using social media channels such as facebook, snapchat, instgram and twitter it's easier to draw the certain audience interested into this film. This helps improve customer engagement. Another efficient way to market your product would be paper marketing. You can easily make brochures and paper signs, and hang them up around town. This way to word can be easily spread and people can find out about the film.

Audience Engagement Research- Midnight Sun

Image result for midnight sun"This movie is about a girl, Katie Price who has a life-threatening sensitivity to light, but her world changes when she meets a guy. Our movies both relate because just as Mia is trapped in her at home life, so is Katie. The audiences both relate to teenagers and adults. This movie is designed to get people to laugh but cry at the same time. At advance screenings of this movie, they put small boxes of tissues. This could be used as a marketing strategy because most of the time if you cry during the movie then the producers did their job. I mean in the sense that the movie was so good that you cried. I would use social media and billboards as my top marketing strategy because i feel like it get around faster.

Audience Engagement Research- Every Day

This is a movie about a girl that falls in love with a spirit that changes bodies everyday.  These are both drama movies which is how they relate, but also the emotions shown throughout the movie relate to my short film. The target audience relate to almost everyone, but based mostly for teenagers. Using social media and posters as a marketing strategy this movie. Persuasive quotes like, "everyday a different body", "everyday a different life", and "every day in love with the same girl". This can catch audiences attention to go see the movie. This is a very popular strategy to market.

Audience Engagement Research- Before I Fall

Our target audiences are very similar, both can relate to adults and teenagers. Both movies can relate to the main genre. Using posters, social media, trailer, and promotions this film was advertised to the public. Using the quote, "What if today was the only day of the rest of your life" gives a hint of the movie. This quote leaves people wondering and overall interested in what the movie is going to be about. This makes them want to go see it. Using social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter the commercials gets the word out about the movie more. I would use social media as my main aspect to market my movie.

feedback and Revisions

My film turned out to be done well. From the feedback during presentations i had some things to fix. For the drone shot, i should either redo it or crop it a little because it's too long and takes away from the short film. The film was too short so we are going to add a scene. And last revision was one of the scenes that i was trying to match up was done wrong in sort of a mirror shot so, i will fix that too.
