Kat Stratford a young, pretty high school girl doesn't attract many boys but, her younger Bianca sister cant date until Kat gets a boyfriend. Bianca is determined to find Kat a boyfriend and Kat stumbles apon Patrick. Kat eventually falls for Patrick after a while of him chasing her. The music in the opening scene is happy and upbeat which expresses the typical teenage life, letting the audience know what the movie is about. The mis-en-scene throughout the movie focuses on the high school and all the kids that go there suggesting a normal day in the life of a teenager. The film starts with an establishing shot to set the day and time of the movie, and then pans down to show the view of the high school and students. Also throughout the film the font view is scribbled and messy to give the audience an idea of the type of film and people in the film. The film had an estimated budget of $16 million and made a total of $53.5 million. This film had 2 award wins and 13 nominations.
