Margo a popular high school student recruits Quentin a young and shy boy to play her mischievous pranks on her friends that betrayed her. When Margo disappears out of no where Quentin is on the search for the girl who stole his heart. The camera shots include a lot of close ups to show the facial expressions of the actors and how they feel. The blurry background helps focus on the face of the actor. The music and sound through the film give us a sense of mystery. Sound effects like crickets chirping, eerie soundtrack, and some instrumental sounds helps create the mood of the mystery. The lighting also play a large factor in the setting the mood and tone of the movie. The lack of light, and softness creates the loneliness feel. The dark atmosphere creates a strong feeling of mystery. With a $12 million budget, this movie made a total of $85.5 million. This movie was debuted at #5 on the New York Times bestseller list and won the 2009 Edgar Award for Best Young Adult Mystery.
